2026 Fine Arts Competition for Black History Month

Join us in celebrating the transformative power of artistic expression by submitting your entry to the annual fine arts competition, ” Creativity Can Change the World, ” presented by The Lone Star (TX) Chapter of the Links Incorporated. This year’s theme, Unity Through Art, encourages the young voices that are shaping the future to celebrate creativity as a powerful tool for connection, dialogue, and positive change.

About the Program

Our Arts Program encourages high school artists to submit original work that interprets this year’s theme through innovative techniques and meaningful storytelling. From bold abstracts to evocative realism, we’re looking for art that inspires conversation, fosters pride, and connects us to the rich legacies that shape our communities.
 
Accepted Categories
Students may submit work in the following categories:
  • Visual Arts – Drawing, Painting, Photography, Digital Art, Sculpture
  • Performing Arts – Music, Dance, Drama, Spoken Word
  • Literary Arts – Poetry and Prose

How to Enter

Participation is simple:
  1. Download the entry forms and program guidelines from this link.
  2. Complete the forms in full.
  3. Submit your artwork and all entry forms by Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 11:59 pm
  4. Email artwork and all forms to: info@lonestarlinksinc.org
Entries must meet all submission requirements listed in the entry packet. Finalists will be selected by a panel of judges and invited to showcase their work at our Black History Month Reception.

Program starts at 6:00 PM

Thrivecon

2026 Teen Summit

We’re excited to share details about the THRIVECON/HBCU FAIR, an empowering experience designed to inspire, connect, and uplift the community through education, culture, and opportunity—with a special emphasis on HBCUs.

Attendees will hear from impactful speakers, engage in meaningful discussions, and explore pathways for personal and academic success. Students and families will also have the opportunity to connect with representatives from various HBCUs, gain valuable insight, and be inspired to thrive.

Students who attend will be eligible for a scholarship to be awarded at the conclusion of the event. In addition, every student in attendance will receive a free ticket to the annual National Battle of the Bands held in Houston, Texas.
